Are you interested in directing a show with Theatre Kent? We are looking for creative, talented and experienced directors who are interested in creating theatrical magic in Chatham.
Three to four performance slots are available:
- mid-November (fall musical)
- early December (family show)
- early February (possible WODL entry)
- early May (spring show)
The board may elect not to fill a particular performance time slot if no suitable submission is available or if the fall musical happens to include plenty of children.

How Play Submissions Are Evaluated
Once the deadline for submissions has passed, an evaluation team is formed from the Theatre Kent Board of Directors. The team reviews all submissions received, which includes reading the play scripts. Other selection criteria may also be considered, such as artistic merit, suitability of the material, director’s experience, etc. Once this phase is complete, the panel then comes together to discuss the submissions. They will then short-list the submissions (if necessary) and vote on the options. When this is complete, a member of the team will contact all those who submitted entries with the panel’s decision. The entire process can take about a month or more. Please be patient with this process. We will contact you in due course.
