Auditions for “Oh What a Tangled Web”

Good day everyone. I have an exciting opportunity to talk to you all about. Theatre Kent has been invited to do 1 night, 1 performance at the Capitol at the end of November. We’ve selected the one act play Oh What a Tangled Web, by John R. Carrol.

With time being a major factor, we selected a few people for casting, and half of the show is cast already. We still have 4 spots available, so auditions for those remaining 4 roles will take place this week.

Audition – 2 days

When – Thursday Oct 7th, 7 – 9 pm
Where– the games room at St. Andrews (the basement below Fellowship Hall)

When – Saturday Oct 9th, 12 – 2 pm
Where – Fellowship Hall at St. Andrews.

I’ve included a brief synopsis and bios for the roles available.

Please note, at this time we will be adhering to the government mandated vaccine passport rules, which means you’ll need to be double vaccinated in order to participate as either cast or crew.

Time is not on our side at this point, which is why this is such short notice. It will also be a shorter rehearsal window than we are used to, so our need to get moving forward is great.

If you feel you fit the role described, then I look forward to seeing you on Thursday or Saturday. If you know someone who fits the bill, let them know.

As things progress we will keep you posted regarding ticket sales, and hopefully we will see everyone else at the Capitol in November.

Thanks

Story:
Jan Wilson has talked her older sister Chris into playing hooky from work to meet with a boy, even offers to call the boss for her big sister. Jan gets flustered trying to lie to Chris’s angry boss and instead of calling in sick, she calls in dead. Things heat up when the boss and his wife show up to pay their respects.

Misunderstandings are straight out of an 80’s sitcom as more people are pulled into Jan’s lie. Her parents come home and Jan goes into damage control, but soon things get more and more out of hand with some extra guests including Chris’s crush and an employee from the local animal shelter.

Characters open for audition

Jan Wilson – A flighty 15 year old. She is impulsive, and a bit naive. She is very high energy, it quick witted and has a dry sense of humor. Jan is our main character and is constantly on and off stage. She is quite tenacious and despite the ridiculousness of the lie, she refuses to admit the truth. Jan has more than a few funny quips adding levity to the situation.

Chris Wilson – Jan’s older sister. Chris is a teenager on the verge of adulthood, preparing for her future, working a part time job. But despite this, she’s still young and has put a priority on hooking up with a boy over her responsibilities. She’s a bit indecisive, and a bit too trusting of her immature little sister.
